FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The questions we get asked most, grouped by topic.

Models and data

What is a Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and how is it used?

A Digital Terrain Model (DTM) is a 3D representation of the terrain obtained from topographic data. It is useful for planning studies, infrastructure design and watershed analysis, among others.

What is a point cloud and what is it used for?

A point cloud is a massive collection of points in 3D space obtained by laser scanning (LiDAR) or photogrammetry. It is used to create 3D models of terrain or structures and is fundamental in surveying, construction and conservation projects.

What are contour lines and spot heights, and how are they calculated?

Contour lines represent changes in terrain height and spot heights give elevations at specific points. They are calculated from topographic surveys and are used in planning, road works and urban planning.

Technical services

What kind of topographic plans and reports do you provide?

Topographic plans with information on elevation, the location of structures and terrain features. These reports are essential for civil engineering, construction and land planning projects.

How are quarry volumes calculated?

Material volumes are measured and calculated from 3D models and LiDAR or photogrammetry data, comparing the current surface with a reference one. This makes it possible to estimate the amount of material available and extracted.

What is point stakeout on the ground and when is it needed?

Stakeout consists of transferring the coordinates of a project from a plan or digital model to the real terrain. It is essential when building houses, roads and other infrastructure so they are built where the project says.

Aerial photo and video

Why use drones in real estate?

They make it possible to capture aerial images and panoramic views of properties, and to show the surroundings and location more clearly.

How can a drone help me get aerial photos and videos for my project?

It provides high-resolution images and videos from angles that are hard to achieve by other means, improving the presentation and analysis of the project.

What is a timelapse and how does a drone make one?

A timelapse captures photos at regular intervals to show change in fast motion. With a drone you can document a project’s evolution by repeating the flight from the same positions.

What are the benefits of using drones for photo and video?

They provide images from heights and angles that other means cannot reach. They are useful for site inspections, construction projects or any situation where an aerial perspective adds value.

Drones in surveying

What advantages do drones offer for surveying and construction projects?

They provide data quickly, reduce exposure to risk in hard-to-reach areas and deliver images and 3D models to support decision-making.

How do drones improve efficiency in data capture?

They collect data quickly on difficult or large sites, which reduces time and resources compared with traditional methods, depending on the type of project.

Can drones work in adverse weather?

They work in a range of conditions, but strong wind, rain or extreme conditions may force a flight to be rescheduled.
